What is the basic philosophy of health, disease and treatment is ayurveda? What is Panchakarma? Why try Ayurved?
Basti is one on the main procedures of Panchakarma. Basti is administered by the introduction of medicated fluid into the colon. Basti therapy balances and nurtures Vata. As Vata governs all body movement, it plays a major role in the disease process, because it can move both nutrients and toxins around the body, and if unbalanced, can cause disease.
Nasya is a process wherein the drug (medicated oils and liquid medicines) is administered through the nostrils. Since a nose is the gateway to the head, the therapy is highly effective in curing a number of diseases pertaining to the head, if it is performed systematically. The therapy cleanses and opens the channels of the head, which has a direct influence on the functioning of brain.
Uttar Basti is an important Panchakarma procedure for the genito–urinary disorders of both, males and females. The therapy involves administration of a specific medicinal oil, ghrita or decoction into the urinary bladder or uterus. In this procedure medicine is instilled in the Uterus in females per vagina or in the bladder in males and females per urethra. All aseptic precautions are followed.
Vaman is one of the five therapies of panchakarma in Ayurveda. Vaman means therapeutic vomiting which is a medicated emesis. This treatment is done for the aggravated kapha dosha, which dislodges the toxins mainly from the respiratory and gastrointestinal tract. This therapy is done for preventive & curative purposes.
Virechan or Virechan Karma is a purification therapy to detox the body and mind, and is one among the five sacred, healing therapies of the Panchakarma. Like in the other Ayurvedic treatments and therapies, the Virechan is given after properly judging the type of disease and tolerance of the patient.
Raktamokshan is the fifth treatment in line. It helps in clearing the dosha residing in the deep tissue & is the best remedial solution for Rakta shuddhi.Rakt is an important dhatu in our body. It cures the diseases related to vitiation of rakt dhatu. Two methods are used for raktamokshan therapy.
Shirodhara is a well established procedure from centuries. With the help of shirodhara equipment warm oil or medicated liquid is dripped on head only in the morning. It develops soothing effect in brain through nerves by pouring liquid on the head. Uses: Shirodhara is poured for 30 to 60 minutes for minimum 7 days.
Swedana is a steam treatment explained in Ayurvedic medical science. The word Sweda is derived from Sanskrit swid, meaning ‘to sweat or to perspire’. So swedana is the process of inducing sweat with the help of steam, generated from medicated herbal decoctions. It is the pre-operative procedure in various Ayurvedic detox therapies.

This involves the creation of controlled, pointed, therapeutic burns over the most tender part of the painful region. Netra Tarpana is an unique effective ayurvedic care which cures the eye diseases and maintains the perfect beauty of eyes and eyesight. It is useful in early formation of cataract, promotes sleep, also helps in relaxation. The treatment is done by creating a pool of pure herbal ghee over the eye. Lepan is a Treatment wherein Medicated powders/ fresh herb paste/ is applied as a pack over the affected part/whole body. It is removed when the pack dries up completely. Local application of herbal paste. Lepan reduces pain, swelling, redness and local temperature. Lepan is Ayurvedic treatment suggested for people suffering from pain associated with inflammatory conditions.
Hrud Basti is an incredibly nurturing, deeply relaxing treatment. A dough container is placed over the heart area and warm herbalised oils are applied. Hrud Basti works primarily on the emotional heart; gently releasing accumulating negative emotions that are being stored in the body. The treatment also works effectively on degenerative heart conditions.
Spine Basti is an important Ayurvedic treatment for Pain Management that focus on the spine or the vertebral column. It includes pouring of specially prepared warm herbal oil over the spine area. In Spine Basti, warm oil is kept over the whole length of the spine with herbal past boundary. During the procedure, the temperature of the oil is kept ideal.
